Who We Are: Simon Walters

  Been non-executive chairman of a company operating nursing homes in 18 locations across the south-east.

  Worked with a sustainable energy business in the UK who were raising significant funding from the USA.

  Led our AIM team, who are active in assisting companies joining the Stock Exchange’s junior market, especially overseas-based natural resources ventures.

  Assisted the turnaround of a waste management business that resulted in it trading profitably and reducing its borrowings.

  Helped a new magazine to become established by careful cost control and raising funds using the government’s Small Firm’s Loan Guarantee Scheme, now known as the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme (EFG).

  Been FD for an AIM quoted online gaming company.

  Provided FD services to an AIM listed fuel cell development company.

Before joining FD Solutions, Simon qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986 and then joined the corporate finance department of BDO before moving to a national property consultancy, as Finance Partner.

In 1992 Simon became FD of the privately-held Molyneux property investment and venture capital group and in 1997, took a similar role at Shani, a fully-listed UK clothing manufacturer.

In 1999 he ran Wood Hall Securities, a private equity group. Simon invested in a range of private high-growth businesses and a significant property portfolio.

Simon also sat as a Non-Exec on the board of AIM-quoted Bilston & Battersea Enamels plc, was finance director of the Fish! chain of restaurants and was a director of NetFM, an internet radio station for which he headed a consortium of backers.
