After a degree in Economics and Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin, Justin joined Arthur Young in London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. On qualification he worked in Italy, firstly in practice before joining Litton International.
On returning to the UK, Justin joined Wilkinson Sword, where he undertook a variety of roles including Group Internal Audit Manager, Group Treasurer, and FD of the UK Shaving business.
Justin was FD of various manufacturing companies both quoted and unquoted. These roles involved change management and excellent cash management.
- Group FD of British Hartford-Fairmont, a family-owned company hoping to go public. Justin resolved inventory problems caused by incorrect costing, and sold a US subsidiary, which was draining cash.
- Group FD of Kembrey, a quoted PLC. Saved the group from receivership by reducing gearing from over 125% to 85%, then selling the group and doubling shareholder value.
- CFO of Sapa Holdings. Repositioned it by selling non-core businesses and acquiring a competitor.
- Commercial Director of Redhouse Engineering. Raised finance for an MBI of this SME selling compressed air equipment.
Since joining FD Solutions in September 2007, Justin has, among other roles:
- acted as part-time FD for a company providing consultancy services to food manufacturers, negotiating increased bank facilities as well as putting in place invoice discounting, and acting in general management role so that the entrepreneur is able to concentrate on sales;
- prepared forecasts and implemented a more robust management reporting system enabling a bank to continue support for a company involved in recycling waste; and
- provided financial management for a company turnaround in the construction sector.
