Who We Are: Chris Denham

Regional Director – Manchester

Chris qualified in 1988 at Smith & Williamson and gained extensive experience within its auditing and insolvency divisions.

At the age of 28 he became a board member of Jo-Y-Jo Ltd, a group of companies that wholesaled fashion clothing among other things. Achievements at the Jo-Y-Jo Group included:

  • instigating full reporting procedures which remain largely unchanged to this day
  • helping set up a Hong Kong and Romanian office
  • overhauling the Treasury system
  • developing routines to keep overheads under control
  • oversaw a tripling of turnover, with a reduction in staffing levels
  • arranging the wind-down of a highly loss-making retail subsidiary
  • organising the setting up of a warehousing and office letting company
  • Setting up, administering and selling a retail golfing company

    • Since 2005, Chris has undertaken a number of part-time accountancy roles, including a wholesale cosmetics and toiletries plc, a shoe wholesaler and a UAE-based retail card chain.

    Chris’s key skills include strategic planning, business planning, financial modelling and reporting. His key business areas of strength are importing companies (especially from China) and retail. He is highly communicative and can bring often complex problems down to sensible and manageable proportions.

    Chris is based in Manchester and covers the north west of England (including south Yorkshire).
